The most important thing to accomplish for our first massage is that your pet feels that I am listening to what they are telling me. This is key to achieving relaxation. I will respond immediately to your pets direction and show complete respect for their wishes. This is to establish a trusting relationship. All pets react differently to being touched. This is all about them. We will look at your pets health history, likes and dislikes and what outcome you hope to achieve for your pet. After your pets massage, we will talk about what was found and the areas I focused on. I will email you a copy of my notes and we will set a goal for your pet. Then we can schedule any future appointments. While I massage your pet to take a moment and relax yourself.
Beginning with gentle effleurage from head to paw in strokes meant to settle your pet and find spots on their body where they may be uncomfortable with touch. This also begins to warm the superficial muscles. The change in stokes is gradual to compression starting with the head and neck region and moving to all body regions. Next is petrissage, which is a deeper technique that is greatly appreciated by your pet. As I move over different regions of the body, I begin to add other massage techniques that are appropriate for the area and what type of muscle tension and trigger points are present. As I find muscle issues that need to be addressed, I will use a number of techniques and will respectfully listen to your pets signals when it comes to their comfort. Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy is used to resolve knots and ropes in the muscle tissue. Often adding Passive Range of Motion to tight joints. Feel free to ask questions at any time during your pets massage.
Before your pets first massage, please complete a medical history form. This will save time so I can focus on your pet’s massage. We will discuss what goals you have for your pet, and what outcome you hope for through massage.
