Bodywork is for every-body. For our dogs, massage therapy can benefit them in more ways than you imagined. If your canine companion is very active, or a nap-master, massage is for them. If your dog is recovering from an injury, surgery, has arthritis, or the ever popular tick borne illness, massage is for them. If your best friend is elderly, sedentary, or approaching end of life care, massage is definitely for them.

Massage is beneficial to dogs and cats as well as other small domestic pets that are in need of muscle work. Massage will relieve tension throughout the body and reduce pain. Sometimes, just treating your pet to a relaxing massage is a great thing to do.

Roree!
Although it is a natural part of the aging process, tight and sore muscles can be a source of discomfort for your companion. Massage helps to break the pain cycle, improve absorption of nutrients, move lymphatic fluids, and encourage cell regeneration. Massage can aid in the early detection of abnormalities. Any abnormal findings should be discussed with your veterinarian.
Helping our seniors maintain suppleness and range of motion will allow them more ease of movement. Gentle touch is important to the emotional well-being of all our companions.
Massage client and agility superstar, Sapphire.
Working, performing, and athletic dogs use their muscles to the point of soreness, though they never show their discomfort. This behavior has been historically vital to their survival. Often our dogs continue to perform tasks for us even when they are in pain. Seeing your vet for any injury is most important. Providing regular massage for these dogs will help relieve their soreness while maintaining resiliency in their muscles. Regular Canine Massage Therapy can help reduce injury in performance dogs.
Former foster dog and client Bennington!
Dogs who are anxious about touch sometimes benefit the most by releasing the tension they hold in their bodies. Massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation. Massage provides a positive touch enhancing their sense of wellbeing. Benny, although born blind, is the happiest dog ever. He relies oh all his senses, including touch to collect information. Sometimes, too much touch disorients him so he takes lots of breaks. The calmness massage brings helps to center pets with sight or hearing loss.
